If testers cannot see your app, they cannot count toward the personal-account requirement of 12 continuous opted-in testers for 14 consecutive days. Solve visibility before you treat the clock as running.
Common Reasons
- Opt-in not finished on the official link
- Wrong Google account in the Play Store
- Country unavailable on the closed release
- Rollout still propagating
- Device or API level excluded
- Google Group membership missing while the track is group-gated
Troubleshooting
Verify opt-in status
Play Console → Release > Testing > Closed testing → manage track → Testers. Confirm they are eligible, then send the opt-in URL again. Searching the store by name often fails for closed tests.
Confirm account
The Play Store account must match the opted-in address. Multiple accounts on one phone are a frequent cause of “app not appearing” and item-not-found / opt-in 404 behavior.
Check availability and compatibility
Include the tester’s country, widen device exclusions if you over-filtered, and wait after changes. Then reinstall via the testing link—not a sideloaded APK if you need Play’s closed-test signals.
Google Group checklist
- Email is a group member
- Group is attached on the Testers tab
- Tester re-opens the opt-in link after membership updates
Prevention Tips
Document the exact path, test with your own second account first, and recruit people who have done closed testing before. Closed Test Pro’s community already expects the opt-in → install → daily open sequence, which reduces “I can’t find the app” delays at the start of your 14-day window.
