How to Monitor Daily Tester Drop-Offs

Daily drop-off monitoring means catching silent or opted-out testers while you can still protect a continuous ≥12 headcount. Wait until day 13 and you are already behind.

    What Is a Drop-Off?

A drop-off is any tester who stops contributing to a healthy window: no opens, multi-day silence, uninstall, or opt-out. Opt-out is the continuity killer; silence is the engagement killer.

    Why Monitoring Matters

    Early detection

One quiet day is a nudge. Three quiet days is a replacement.

    Data-driven decisions

You know whether to remind, fix a crash, or recruit — not guess.

Personal accounts after Nov 13, 2023 need 12 continuous opt-ins for 14 days. Organization / D-U-N-S accounts are exempt from that gate. Google previously required 20 testers; the minimum is now 12.

    How to Monitor Drop-Offs

    Daily statistics

    • Opted-in count in Test and release → Testing → Closed testing
    • Opens / active testers from analytics or Closed Test Pro
    • Trend vs yesterday

    Individual tracking

Last open, last opt-in status, uninstall risk.

    Alerts

Inactive for 48 hours, uninstall, or count nearing 12.

    Responding to Drop-Offs

    1–2 days inactive

    Automated reminder; confirm account/opt-in.

    3+ days inactive

Assume they will not recover; add a backup tester and verify the new opt-in.

    Uninstall / opt-out

Replace immediately. Continuity requires the count stay ≥12.
